Potato occupies an important position among food crops in many countries of the world.

as it is considered the first alternative to cereal crops in solving the food problem.

Potato is considered one of the main vegetable crops.

as the average cultivated area of the potato crop during the period (2017-2019) About 118.5 thousand feddans produce about 3.01 million tons for the winter season.

The Research problem was identifing in the competition of winter crops for land resources with the winter potato crop.

and the response of the potato crop supply in terms of the nature of the variables that the farmer can make a decision on the basis of by expanding the cultivation of this crop.

The research aims mainly to identify the factors affecting the cultivated area of the potato crop.

to identify the development in area.

productivity and total production of winter potatoes.

and to measure the response of the width of the winter potato crop.

The study concludes that the factors responsible for increasing the winter potato area are the per-acre productivity of winter potato.

and the relative net return between winter potato and wheat.

and that the most responsible factors for the decrease in the cultivated area of winter potato is the relative costs between winter potato and wheat.

It can be said that the response of winter potato farmers to relative prices and returns may reflect the effectiveness of the impact of productive policies.

and the effect of economic reform policies in terms of leaving freedom to farmers in the comparison between the quality of agricultural crops that they wish to grow according to price.

The study recommends: 1- Working to provide production and marketing information to ensure that the farmer gets an appropriate price that motivates him to increase the area planted from winter potatoes 2- Providing high-yield export items to increase the exported quantities.
