Sinop is one of the coastal cities located in the far north of Asia Minor, and the most protected natural port on the southern coast of the Black Sea, as it is one of the important cities in the historical geography of the Asia Minor region.

Its vital geography, its natural port, as well as its distinctive feature of fortified cities, combined these factors enabled Sinop to gain great importance as a center for international trade, as it was considered one of the transportation centers for the production distribution system in the region since the era of the Seljuk state of Rome (470-708AH/1077 1308AD).

), where it was considered the main gateway, and the only trading port for the Seljuk Rum trade with the countries of the Black Sea Basin, in addition to being the crossroads of maritime trade routes in the region.
