Abstract EN

The study of the influence of the setting in the discourse (as produced or perceived) is based on a systematic awareness of the importance of such a setting in constructing and interpreting the discourse, whether in its influence, in its various types and contextual elements.

Through formulating the discourse, the speaker makes specific choices that respond to the condition of matching between setting and the discourse.

This study deals with internal and external settings.

As for the first one, it is linked with actors of frame story or inline stories.

The second one accentuates the translation process of the “lion and the Ox” and all chapters of “Kalīlawa Dimna” in relationship to the settings related either to the translator or to the political authority of the time.

All these elements impacted Ibn al-Muqaffa` speech at different levels: structure, style and strategy.
