Abstract EN

The study aims to: recognize to how the cultural sediment impact on the economic empowerment of women in the study community, though, the societal vision of the cultural sediment related to women, the patterns of economic empowerment in the society and its most challenges confront from the perspective of the study community.

Methods sample of study 35 informants (15 male-20female) in Al khudairat village Located in Nag Hammadi Center in Qena governorate, in Upper Egypt, their ages ranged from 20-40 years, the interview guide was used as an essential tool for the study.

The study based on the anthropological method and world view theory as theoretical orientation.

Results; There are some cultural sediments that are still practiced in the study community (the marital choice - Female genital mutilation).

cultural legacies are unfair to women.

The impact of cultural sediment on women's economic empowerment has become limited as a result of the high level of education and growth of community awareness.

Providing financial and technical support are most important mechanisms facing the challenges of women economic empowerment in society
