Although the field of hermeneutics is different from the field of phenomenology as it may seem at first sight however, the similarities among them are numerous.

Especially, when we are approaching the question of meaning and revealing hidden connotations whether carried out by symbols or texts … Therefore, this study revolves around one of the most important turning points that Hermeneutics knew in its long history, which is the phenomenological turn of hermeneutics that was brought about by Paul Ricoeur.

Since the purpose of interpretation is to reveal the hidden meaning behind texts, symbols and to avoid misunderstanding, it was natural for Ricoeur’s hermeneutics to proceed from the symbol as an element that motivates thought on the one hand, and an essential mediator for self-understanding just like the text on the other hand, which makes it easier for us Understand how Paul Ricoeur moved from a philosophy of allegory to a hermeneutics of phenomenology.

Therefore, we will try in this study to shed light on this turning point and the foundations on which it was based on and the ways that made it possible starting from the statement of the common aspects between hermeneutics and phenomenology and how the latter was invested in the context of hermeneutics and thus the transformation of man from a contemplative being to an interpretive being.

This would not have been possible without the revision of phenomenology from its idealistic tendency.
