Abstract EN

Salafi jihadism is considered as a facet of the political Islam that justifies violence to gain power, and calls for a change in social and political systems based on ideological interpretations of the Qur’an and the texts of Islamic heritage.

The Salafi ideology is based on the necessity of establishing an Islamic state project and excommunicating from Islam societies and governments that deviate from the application of Sharia.

As far as this subject is concerned, we have been preoccupied with the study of the concept of state in the discourse of Salafi jihadism in order to discern the most important Salafi theories of the state, methods of establishing it and its most prominent components, as well as to understand the foundations of the thinking of this religious group and their mental structure.

The definition of the state has its own characteristcs and foundations according the Salafi beliefs.

Our attention focuses on some theoreticians of the jihadist movement and on the extensions of this ideology found in some religious movements and Islamic parties such as Hizb ut-Tahrir in Tunisia.

In our research, we are required to clarify the attitude of these theoreticians regarding the prevailing systems of governments in the Arab and Islamic countries that are based on the positive law, system of human rights and universal freedoms.

Also, we are required to show the theoreticians’ view of society in order to uncover aspects of the deviation of some Qur’anic concepts from their textual semantic and historical context, when building theories of the Salafist ideology.

In the second part of the research, we mainly dealt with some issues such as the mechanisms of realizing a theocratic state, the difference between Quranic jihad and the jihad as stated in the Salafist literature as well as the references controlling the Salafist theories.

We also tried to reveal features of the political system in a theocratic state, the mental deficiency and the paralysis of political vision in the political Islam conception which employs the transcendental and the sacred in order to establish the state and achieve political ends.

Added to that, the political Islam was founded on not only mixing religious, sacred and political facts but also justifying the resort to violence in the name of religion.
