Abstract EN

The main concern of the current study is to identify the social and economic effects of the Covid-19 virus on a sample of Kuwaiti elderly people from their viewpoint, and the influence of some variables on that.

The study adopted the descriptive approach, the study sample consisted of (789) elderly people, and the tools included a questionnaire that involved (35) statements divided into three axes (personal precautions for the protection from Covid-19 virus, social effects of Covid-19 virus, economic effects of Covid-19 virus).

The results of the study concluded that elderly people follow a lot of personal precautions for the protection from Covid-19 virus, and that there are several social and economic effects of Covid-19 virus on elderly people.

The results of the study indicated that there are statistically significant differences among the averages of the study sample individuals regarding personal precautions for the protection from Covid-19 virus, and social effects of Covid-19 virus due gender variable, while there are no differences concerning economic effects of Covid-19 virus.

Also, there are differences concerning all dimensions due to age and income variables.

Furthermore, there are differences regarding social effects of Covid-19 due to the level of education and the governorate variables, while there are no differences concerning the other dimensions.

In addition, there are differences concerning social and economic effects of Covid-19 due to caretaker and social status variables, while there are no differences regarding personal precautions for the protection from Covid-19.

The results showed that there are differences concerning social effects of COVID-19 due to economic status variable, while there are no differences regarding the other dimensions.
