Abstract EN

The present research addresses the role of local communities in developing archeological tourism, taking as an example Al-Khandag archaeological site.

This research aims at providing a scientific approach that could reflect the role of the local communities and their contributions in developing tourism, and it also aims at raising the awareness among the local communities to urge their participation in the tourism planning process.

This research adopted the historical approach and the descriptive analytical approach to extract the impact of the local communities in promoting tourist sites.

The research concluded with the results which revealed that achieving the goals of tourism relies heavily on engaging the local community in developing the strategic plans of tourism, and that all the processes of tourism should be carried out through highlighting the local community’s activities, cultures and heritage.
