Abstract EN

The aim of this research detects the symptoms of depression and its relation with personality traits among the students of the first and fourth groups of faculties of psychology, to achieve this aim, the researcher used the descriptive approach.

The sample consisted of (100) students, chosen randomly, The research tools were two questionnaires depression scale and personality traits, The data was processed by the (SPSS) program, using one sample(t )test, and (t) test for two independent means, Alfa Coronbach, Spearman Brown correlation , and Friedman test.

The most important results indicated that there was a low level of depression among the students.

And character traits are positive.

There was a statistically significant negative correlation between depression and personality traits among The Students of the of department of Psychology in (first, fourth year).

There was a significant difference in personality traits according to the age variable.

There was a significant difference in some personality traits according to the gender variable(male , female)in favor of female.

There was no a significant difference in personality traits according to the age variable.

The researcher also found number of recommendations, including the need to work on the early detection of symptoms of depression among The Students, because neglect in this aspect leads to increased suicides among Students.
