Abstract EN
This paper reviews the literature relating to the impact of intermittency of renewable energy sources, especially PV and wind, on the grid in terms of reverse power flow, voltage profile and domestic charging profiles of EVs on the grid.
A typical network for the UK 33/11/0.433kV has been modelled by Matlab/Simulink.
Realistic data for the loads and the sources of the PV and wind were used.
The aim of this paper was to investigate some scenarios to see the possibility of using EVs as a storage system to reduce the impact of renewable energy, particularly on the low voltage feeder of the network.
In this paper it was found that the EVs can mitigate the impact of renewable energies for the reverse power flow and voltage variations, which means they would support the grid.
As a result, the renewable energy sources if are used separately they will make problems for the network but by integrating them together with EVs, the impact will be mitigated
