Abstract EN
This paper attempts to investigate the strength properties of Silica fume and wood ash concrete.
Wood ash is prepared using the waste material by uncontrolled burning. The chemical composition of wood ash is determined to classify the type of obtained pazzaluna material.
Wood ash is used as a partial replacement of cement at 2 levels (10% and 20%) in concrete mixes with silica fume (fixed at 3%) and each trial super plasticizer has been added at constant values to achieve a constant range of slump for desired work ability with a constant water-binder (w/b) ratio of 0.4.Specimens were produced and cured in a curing tank for 7, 28 and 56 days.
The cubes were subjected to compressive strength tests.
The result show that the optimum strength of wood ash at 10% when used as partial replacement of ordinary Portland cement.
