Abstract EN

Libyan housing suffers from a lack of user comfort in terms of thermal.

visual and acoustic aspects, as a result of several reasons, the most important of which is the failure to observe sustainable policies in design and implementation, which created the problem of energy consumption to provide cooling and air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter, which led to providing the needs of electricity, as a result of the changing political and economic conditions and the state of war that the country has experienced during the last ten years.

Therefore, the population resorted to providing their needs in alternative ways by using electric generators, which endangers humans and the environment.

The research aims to review the environmental solutions for Libyan housing from the perspective of sustaining a comfortable environment for its users with a presentation and clarification of implementation obstacles.

methodology relied on three axes: First: analyzing the traditional Libyan housing in literature, to come up with sustainable solutions that have their ancient and originality and provide their effectiveness in that era.

Second: an analytical study of safer and less polluting alternatives to the environment, namely solar panels as a source of energy.

Third, identifying the obstacles to the application through a questionnaire submitted to the residents and specialists, to identify the application of sustainability policies on the ground, and to come up with recommendations for the success of building sustainable contemporary housing.
