The collection owes its popularity to the explicit exoticism of the plot.

And one of the reasons for the success of the book is that the collection is based upon the outstanding sagacity of the three princes.

While the exoticism made the Peregrinaggio popular in France, the combination of exoticism with sagacity met with the tastes of a public like the English, accustomed to the detective novel
