Algeria's efforts to modernise the telecommunications sector are among the most important and striking features of its economic and social development, especially as it has been engaged in a policy of openness and comprehensive reform since 2001, a period during which the sector has experienced a notable leap.

throughout this article, we will attempt to shed light on the reality of information and communication technologies in Algeria.

in addition to digital services and means of electronic payment, the Algerian state is committed to developing modern communications infrastructure structures.

and it has carried out the necessary reforms to improve supply and service, and to develop the infrastructure for a stronger integration of information and communication technologies in the national economy, given that Algeria possesses the basic resources and ingredients that favour the development of the digital environment and the transition to e-government, but the reality indicates a significant lag in the area of launching electronic payment mechanisms and activating digital transactions and from this point of view, the Algerian state, which is supposed to provide the necessary groundwork that enables its institutions to adapt to the environment of the digital economy, is bound by the need to develop the information and communication technology sector and improve the modern means of payment in the Algerian financial and banking system by adopting a clear strategy to provide the main structures and tools to support technical development and renewal.
