The image of the school in social representations may be formed based on the image of its institutional components (primary school, high school ...) or managerial components related to the levels of decision-making, or human components referred to the teacher, the guidance counselor…, or functional components related to the pedagogical organization, evaluation system and guidance services ...

among these components, school guidance is an integral part of the education process.

in this context, this research attempts to study the image of school and vocational guidance services, especially those conducted by the guidance counselor, in the representations of learners as the main beneficiaries.

this research seeks to reveal the degree of their satisfaction with the services of informing and accompanying provided by this educational actor, and the extent to which these provided services respond to their expectations.

this study is based on field research data that was completed by means of a questionnaire directed at a sample of 279 individuals from secondary school students at the baccalaureate level in a number of secondary schools, representing the various academic disciplines available in these institutions.

In an effort to find out some determinants of the learners' perceptions, the opinions of some educational actors were collected through semi-directed interviews.

the results showed that students have negative perceptions about the services provided by the counselor in school guidance, as they do not respond to their expectations, which negatively affects, even partially, their academic paths.
