Abstract EN

The present study aims to elucidate the concept of definitions, their specifications, types, highlighting their importance in terminology rectification and correction in particular the differing terms and definitions of fundamentalist linguists and rationalists.

The inductive descriptive analytical method was strictly adopted and followed.

The study comprises an introduction, five sections, and a conclusion.

Section one explains the concept of definitions, while section two deals with definitions' specifications.

Section three highlights definitions' significance in terminology rectification.

Definitions types are outlined in section four.

Definition in fundamentalists and linguists terms contrary to that of rationalists is presented in section five.

The study revealed that definitions are the most important aspect learners need in principle, introductions or core research descriptive sections.

It was concluded that a definition entailed mentioning something essential for understanding something else, a necessary visualization for something, a complete limitation a distinction, incomplete limitation or a drawing.

Definitions have valid specifications and terms, and are of paramount importance for scholars in humanities and applied science and come in multiple forms including verbal, limited, graphic, division and example definitions.

It was revealed that rationalists, unlike fundamental linguists, differentiate between definitions and limitations based on general-particular relationships.
