Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to identify and investigate Muslim scholars' consensus on salutation and greeting ethics, highlighting the valid as well as the invalid opinions.

The study consists of an introduction, and fourteen issue-wise sections.

The introduction defines ethics, salutation, greeting in literal and terminological terms, and differentiates between both salutation and greeting.

The 14 sections of the study are issue-wise organized.

The study revealed that Muslim scholars of consensus are a few if compared to the huge jurisprudence knowledge volume.

Most scholars were interested in writing religious thought doctrines, while consensus scholars were just a few.

Hence, scholars sometimes had consensus on a particular issue while critical of it at times.

Knowledge seekers should question the issue of consensus even if it came in big numbers.

More numbers of consensus scholars do not mean validity of an issue.

Less numbers, likewise, does not signify invalidity.

It is concluded that despite the big number of salutation and greeting ethics issues, there was only one critical view of them.
