Abstract EN

The research aims to study the French activity in the yemeni ports in the first half of 18th century through tracing its commercial and political activity in those sites, in which france tried to find a foothold in the red sea, the gulf of aden, and the southern Arabian seas in general, and in the Yemeni ports and islands in particular.

the research has been divided into an introduction, a preamble, and five themed sections.

the first section discusses the reasons of the French direction toward the ports of south arabian peninsula (yemeni ports) ; the second section is concerned with the French people and the king's court on the island of Socotra ; the third section touches upon the French destination to Aden to discover the land of coffee; the fourth chapter focuses on mocha port as the destination of the voyage ; and the fifth section discusses the second french voyage and the imam known as ṣāḥib al-mawāhib.

the research concluded that the British-French conflict over international trade and navigation routes in the south of the red sea was the major drive underlying the French direction to yemeni ports and lands.
