Our study aims at highlighting the methods adopted in the translation of the social taboo in all its manifestations in the Algerian novel, we have divided our work into two parts : in the theoretical part, we tried to define some concepts, then we touched upon the problems that face the translator while dealing with the social taboo, and the most adopted translational methods to render it.

in the practical part, we made an analytic and descriptive study of an Algerian novel trying to answer the following question : what is the most suitable method adopted in the translation of the social taboo in the Algerian novel : ellipsis or euphemism ?

Notre étude vise à mettre en lumière les différentes méthodes adoptées dans la traduction du tabou social dans toutes ses manifestations dans le roman algérien.

nous avons réparti notre travail de recherche en deux parties : dans la première partie théorique, nous avons essayé de définir quelques notions, ensuite nous avons évoqué les divers problèmes qui confrontent le traducteur lors de la traduction de certains tabous sociaux, et les différentes méthodes adoptées pour les traduire.

dans la partie pratique, nous avons effectué une étude analytique et descriptive sur un roman Algérien, pour pouvoir répondre à la question suivante : quelle est la méthode la plus convenable dans la traduction du tabou social dans le roman algérien : est ce l’ellipse ou l’euphémisme ?
