Abstract EN

This paper examines the effect of infant mortality on fertility using the micro-level analysis and based on the data of the Algerian cluster survey carried out in the year 2012-2013 called MICS4.

the study was conducted by analyzing the differences between the length of the field between births, the average number of children born according to the duration of marriage, the possibilities of the family's growth, as well as the total fertility rate in view of the presence or absence of infant mortality.

we found that the effect of infant mortality on partial and total fertility is positive, meaning that the more infant mortality a woman has, the greater her fertility and desire to compensate, and the sharp decrease in infant mortality is likely to lead to a decline in fertility.
