Abstract EN

The contents of this research aim to clarify imam as-Sakhāwī’s (643AH) approach towards the Qur’anic text’s capacity for the odd mode of recitation, and its consideration of it ; seeing that he is considered the first person to have established systemized criteria and precautions to regulate and lay the foundation of this methodology, which is a feature that few pay attention to.

this research also affirms through several applications that not all odd modes of recitation are contrary to the Qur’anic text, but rather there are those that agree with it.

the researcher relied on a descriptive and analytical methodology in this research, along with that which is necessary of supportive methodologies with the aim of reaching results and general rulings.

from among the most important findings of this research is that the Qur’anic text may have the capacity to accommodate the odd mode of recitation, which would thus give the latter a clear connection with the former ; this would be with the consideration that the recitation was not deemed odd during the time the Qur’an was put down in writing, which would be as such if the odd mode of recitation contained additions and omissions of some of its letters.

however, if the recitation contained words that are additional to the Qur’anic text, then the latter would not have the capacity to accommodate the former categorically.
