Since its inception, Algerian literature has struggled to overcome obstacles that have caused it to stumble in its steps as it attempts to mature and level out to the same degree as its international counterpart.

it is well known that Algeria and the countries of the Maghreb have experienced a dichotomy in the languages used by creative people to write, namely Arabic and French.

this led to the spread of the name of French-language literature from Algeria, the emergence and development of which were directly related to French colonialism.

on this basis, the issue of classification as well as the tragedy of expression suffered by Algerian writers who used the French language as a means of expression and started looking for their identity within their writings-where they felt the simultaneous exile in language and writing-were brought up.
