Abstract EN

This study aims to set the balance of trade components and development during 1995-2020 and conclude the main features of the Algerian economy.

To measure the exports and imports components during 1995-2020, the descriptive analytical approach has been used.

Findings show that the balance of trade is yet dependent on oil price fluctuations.

Thence, oil and energy contribute more than 95% of total exports during the study period.

On the other hand, food and industrialized items prices, that contribute more than 50% of imports, have increased.

To conclude, despite the huge public expenditure, the Algerian economy still have the rentier feature and all economic diversification have failed
