The emergence of the term environmental refugee is due to the environmental deterioration resulting from climate change and global warming, which has prompted millions of people to seek refuge in other countries.

Environmental asylum is a global challenge and a long-term phenomenon.

Despite this, we do not find legal protection for the environmental refugee, as we find that the international community refuses to recognize the legal status of the latter.
