The announcement of a motor disability following a spinal cord injury caused by a serious traffic accident, takes place in a multidimensional traumatic context where all the data of the victim’s history are upset, and the course of his life private may even be interrupted which will force him to consider his personal, professional and social future.

The accident has shifted the image of an upright body into the past, replacing it with a different body, foreign or even rejected because it is difficult to imagine within the new limits to imposes.

From this break, the subject must initiate a work of mourning for the lost part and a reconstruction of the identity, but this can only be achieved, among other factors, by a “successful” announcement that psychologists consider the first essential step in the grieving process and its main driver, but also underline the need to monitor its conditions and quality.

Through a clinical and projective study, the author wishes to define the impact of the absence of the announcement on the grieving process in a young paraplegic and the work of the handicap, then to underline the place occupied by the announcement of disability in this dynamic process
