Semiology is one of the most important criticism’s approaches in modern and contemporary Arab criticism ; and it has had a prominent and clear presence in contemporary studies.

semiology is the science that is concerned with the systematic study of the linguistic and non-linguistic signs in the text.

it proceeds from focusing on the relationship between the signifier and the signified, as it has become a method, a conception, a theory, and an indispensable science.

this article, titled : semiology in contemporary Arab criticism-concept and manifestations-seeks to define the concept and emergence of semiology by searching for its roots and historical tributaries, then talking about semiology, its schools and trends, and finally semiology in the Arab world.
