The presented study aims to explore the relationship between proactive coping and quality of life in patients with myocardial infarction (MI), the current study examined a sample of 42 mi patients in Mustapha Bacha hospital, Algiers.

we made use of descriptive and correlative approach in data collection and data analysis using the following research tools : interviews, proactive coping inventory (PCI) and world health organization quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF), the results were analyzed using the Pearson correlation coefficient to study the relationship between the variables and the t test to study the differences of proactive coping and quality of life in heart patients of both types.

the results of the study concluded that : there is a strong positive correlation between proactive coping and health-related quality of life in patients with myocardial infarction type ii ST (STEMI), where the correlation score was estimated at r = 0.604, which is a function value at the significance level α = 0.01.

whereas : there is no correlation relationship between proactive coping and health-related quality of life in patients with myocardial infarction type I (1) non-st (non-STEMI).

as well as the ence of statistically significant differences in the proactive coping attributed to the sex factor, it can be said that proactive coping in patients with myocardial infarction of both types is not affected by the sex factor.
