إن الحق في تقرير المصير بوصفه مبدأ أساسيا من مبادئ القانون الدولي تم إدراجه في حقوق الإنسان الدولية والمواثيق الدولية المختلفة، وبدلك أصبح حقا من حقوق الإنسان.
وقد أدرج لأول مرة في ميثاق الأمم المتحدة بوصفه أحد "مقاصد ومبادئ المنظمة" التوجيهية، ومن ثم أعلن في العديد من الصكوك الدولية مثل الميثاق الأفريقي لحقوق الإنسان والاتفاقية الأمريكية لحقوق الإنسان وقرارات الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة.

The right to self-determination as a fundamental principle of international law has been incorporated into international human rights.
and various international instruments and it has become a human right.
it was first incorporated into the charter of the united nations as one of the organization's guiding "purposes and principles", and was thus proclaimed in numerous international instruments such as the African charter on human rights, the American convention on human rights and united nations general assembly resolutions.

Le droit à l’autodétermination en tant que principe fondamental du droit international a été incorporé aux droits internationaux de la personne.
et divers instruments internationaux, et il est devenu un droit humain.
il a d’abord été incorporé dans la charte des nations unies comme l’un des "buts et principes" directeurs de l’organisation, et a ainsi été proclamé dans de nombreux instruments internationaux tels que la charte africaine des droits de l’homme, la convention américaine relative aux droits de l’homme et les résolutions de l’assemblée générale des nations unies.
