The revolution erupted under the leadership of the National Liberation Front, and the Arab world embraced and supported it, with men, weapons and money, in addition to the Arab diplomatic positions in international gatherings at the time, expressing the unity of the Arab position in support of the Algerian revolution against the occupier who usurped the land for 130 years.

During the eight years of the revolution, Tunisia represented a rear base for the Algerian revolution, as it embraced the leaders of the revolution, and provided the supply of money and weapons, except for the men who engaged in armed operations inside Algerian soil against the French forces.

The most prominent of them was the black leaderHe is the most famous leader of the armed resistance in Tunisia in the fifties of the last century, and one of the resistance fighters who stood by the Algerian revolution under the banner of the Arab Maghreb Liberation Army.

He is convinced that there is no complete and effective liberation for Tunisia without the liberation of Algeria and the Far Maghreb.

Al-Taher Al-Aswad had several contacts, several incidents and war battles, which he led or supervised within the framework of the comprehensive war and coordination for the liberation of Tunisia and Algeria.

He played a major role in supplying and diverting arms across the Tunisian south from Tripoli to the Algerian resistance.

He was martyred under his leadership in the battles of several hundreds of Tunisians and Algerians from the Khmer mountains to the north The mountains of Gafsa, Jerid, Beni Khedach and Matmata in the southHe put an end to his activities after Tunisia gained its independence on March 20, 1956, but he did not surrender his arms to the Tunisian authorities until July 3, 1956, and reconciled with Bourguiba.
