Abstract EN

This study aims to know the potential contribution of Algerian insurance companies to the development of the national economy, by analyzing the role of insurance companies in the Algerian economy during the period 2014-2019 according to the technical activity of the sector and penetration rate.

The study found the low contribution of Algerian insurance companies to the development of the national economy, due to the low penetration rate, which did not reach 01% throughout the study period, and the awareness of Algerian citizens to insurance is almost non-existent.

The study suggested the need to pay attention to the sector from the regulatory point of view, to strengthen the control over it, to develop the quality of service of insurance companies and to improve the culture of the citizen's insurance Algerian.
