Abstract EN

This present paper discusses the distinguished character of sheikh Ahmed bin Aliwa, the founder of the Alawi Tariq or sect, which became famous in the first third of the twentieth century in many remarkable ways.

since its inception, it raised a lot of controversy about the religious and scientific stature of its founder.

some considered him to be one of the scholars of the modern era and a prominent innovator of Sufism.

notwithstanding, others considered his thought controversial, questionable or disdainful.

one thing is certain, however, Ibn Aliwa was not an ordinary person among his contemporaries.

he was intelligent and politically cunning in dealing with his surroundings, and he had the power and charisma to influence all his visitors, his followers and disciples, or even from his opponents of his Tariq.
