Abstract EN

European functionalism, namely its pioneer Andre Martinet, dealt with the human language as a message having an important value in society whose function is to achieve communication based on the fact that, according to them, language consists of a structure and a system of coherent units forming a linguistic system which is independent from any external context and which is governed by the economy of language along with the syntax contribution to achieve the purpose of the existence of language.

All these concepts are functional issues that were dealt with and discussed by Arab scholars such as Al-Jurjani, Ibn Jinni and Sibawayh centuries ago while studying Arabic in a careful and diligent way for the sake of a good understanding of the Noble Qur'an.
