This paper deals with the issue of the term grammar schools in the Arab scientific heritage, and the intellectual and critical discussions that resulted from it, which went beyond questioning the existence of grammar schools per se, thus the multiplicity of schools is initially based on the differentiate in the research curriculum followed in various scientific studies.

this study seeks to dig into the cognitive and social backgrounds that were behind the legitimacy of the existence of grammatical schools in the Arab scientific heritage.
