Abstract EN

Foreign trade plays an important role in economic development, as it is considered one of the main pillars in the advancement of the economy of countries, and trade openness is an urgent necessity as it contributes to achieving economic growth and providing goods and services through various foreign trade operations.

the results showed that the liberalization of foreign trade has a significant impact on economic growth, especially with regard to the impact of the policy of going abroad through exports, and the increase in trade openness comes with an increase in the ratio of imports to GDP.

the study period for Algeria also witnessed fluctuation in the ratio of imports to GDP and a sharp decrease in the ratio of exports to output at the end of the study period due to the double shock of the Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic and the sharp decline in hydrocarbon revenues.
