Algeria is among the countries that took steps towards establishing the basis of good governance, especially at the local level.

since 2012 the country proceeded some reforms through empowering the civil society organizations to perform a major role in managing the public interests on the local level according to good governance criteria, which is reflected in the laws of municipal and state (Wilaya).
