This study deals with the role of the family affairs judge in conducting conciliation to settle family disputes, as they are of a special nature, and relate to sensitive and private relations between family members, especially between spouses and children, and require a lot of discretion, confidentiality, wisdom, and deliberation in dealing with aspects of them, because they are of a degree of complexity.

it is characterized by the different natures of people, traditions, and the environment in which its parties were raised, in addition to the overlapping of what is legal and what is social and psychological conflict.

therefore, the Algerian legislator obligated the family affairs judge to conduct reconciliation between the spouses, through the provisions of article 49 of the family code, in addition to the provisions and articles 439 to 445 of the civil and administrative procedures code, and it is also necessary for us to compare the reconciliation procedures with the two systems of settlement offices and the family guidance committee that are followed.
