The constitutional council remained the body in charge of monitoring the constitutionality of laws in Algeria, until the constitutional amendment of 2020, which adopted a new name for this institution, which is the constitutional court, and defined its composition and powers.

therefore, the main objective of this study is to identify the changes that this institution has known.

compared to the constitutional council in terms of membership and functionality, and how this contributed to activating the role of the constitutional court as the body entrusted with protecting the principle of the supremacy of the constitution.
