Abstract EN

The present paper highlights the process of a great social change that has occurred and is still taking place in the Algerian society in its evolutionary path.

the process is represented in the transfer of attention to material needs instead of intellectual concerns.

it also focuses on two important social organizations, the first being the locomotive of progress, which is the university, and the second is the guild as an integral part of the civil society structured for the demands, needs and interests of the members of the society, and from it the requirements of the members of the community.

the result confirms the transition from intellectual concerns to material concerns in redrawing the line of development of many societies, especially Western ones.
