Ecocriticism is a new critical field that became popular in the nineties of the twentieth century, known in European and American literature.

representing the natural environment system in literary work, although this relationship is as old as literature, environmental criticism is characterized by a deep vision of nature, foresight, and carries with it a slogan that is to protect it from damage and sabotage, and to spread environmental awareness.

in this research paper, a conceptual presentation of the rooting of environmental criticism, then an applied study according to the mechanisms of this approach to poetic models from the poetry of the city and the countryside of the Algerian poet Abdelmalek Boumendjal are, respectively: "Bedouin of the mountain", "I drank your customs, city", and "Wahi al Rab’a’", in which he presents the image of the rural and urban environment, how was the image of the environment in the poems aesthetically pleasing? was the poet successful in using the elements of nature and portraying its advantages and disadvantages?.
