Abstract EN

During the nineteenth century, Morocco was subjected to a set of colonial pressures exerted on it by the major European countries, which ended with the signing of a number of treaties with (France, Britain, Spain), which took a political and economic character, and weakened its territorial and judicial sovereignty.

Within this context, Morocco called for the convening of The Madrid Conference to reduce European colonial pressures on it, and to defend its sovereignty, the Sultan’s deputy, Muhammad Barkash, was dispatched to represent him in the Madrid Conference in 1880.

In this study, we will try to unveil the extent of the impact of Moroccan negotiating behavior on the outcomes of the Madrid Conference 1880.
