Abstract EN

The image that the means of written and oral expression can reflect about the immigrant Arab women is of great assistance to establish the new perspective of the social reality experienced by her, and the audio-visual means of mass communication, inclusive of cinema.

in virtue of which, we are endeavouring through this research to reveal the presence of immigrant women in the Arab feminist cinema, mainly the presence of women in the films produced by the Egyptian director Enas El Degheidy.

furthermore, as a sample for this research, we chose her film “the searchers for freedom” as its content has shown to be related to the issue of immigration, and since this research tries to intensely investigate into the field of critical studies of cinematic discourse, the semiological approach has shown to be the most appropriate methodological approach for such kind of researches.

more to the point, it was concluded through this research that a set of results were made known, the most important of which is that the ideological discourse of the movie was mainly based on the concept of freedom which was translated in several forms, including: the escape of Arab women from a restricted and closed Arab space to a more liberated space, such as the city of Paris, which stands for the geographical surroundings that reflect the land of immigration.
