Embodying the principle of the supremacy of the constitution, the Algerian legislator adopted the principle of monitoring the constitutionality of laws in all the constitutions that the country knew, under the name of the Constitutional Council, until the last constitutional amendment in 2020, where the Constitutional Court was organized as a new oversight body.

Aimed at protecting the constitution and strengthening the principle of separation between powers, and promoting and preserving constitutionally recognized rights and freedoms.

It is also charged with adjudicating disputes that may arise between constitutional authorities, in addition to interpreting the constitution.

This study was devoted to talking about the composition of the Constitutional Court, which retained some of the features that characterized the formation of the Constitutional Council, and to studying the tasks of this young court in Algeria.
