Abstract EN

This study aimed to review a number of key concepts related to project knowledge management (PMK), which is an interdisciplinary and relatively recent academic field that is rarely approached in the academic literature authored in Arabic.

this study seeks to answer two basic questions related to each of ; 1) the most fundamental concepts in the field of project knowledge management, 2) the role of the project management office (PMO) in enabling effective knowledge management in the project environment.

the study adapted the documentary research method as one of the descriptive approaches to achieve its objectives by applying it to a group of academic and professional literature.

the most important recommendations were ; 1) there is a need to adopt project knowledge management methodologies as a standard practice within programs and projects ; 2) there is a need for project management office to adopt a methodology that integrates knowledge management processes into the main governance framework for project management-or what is known as the project management methodology.

the study also highlighted the importance of spreading a culture of knowledge management as an element of the organizational culture.

the study further highlighted the need for project management office to adopt practical knowledge management that are more suited for projects rather than the organization as a whole.
