South Korea has witnessed periods of political instability before becoming a democratic and economic power competing with the most powerful countries in the world.

Therefore, the study aims at identifying the various phases that South Korea has gone through towards the consolidation of democracy.

We concluded that South Korea's achievement of political progress occurred only after great and long-term efforts that led to the modernization of the political system and the fulfilment of comprehensive and effective development, which is the equation that qualified South Korea to be at the top of the list of democracies.
