Abstract EN

Identity is considered as the most insistently question in modern Arab thought, and it provoked a great anxiety.

Indeed, he novelist Algerian discourse did not neglect the identity issue and attempted to answer it.

This given attention is possibly due to reasons (historical, cultural, and sociable), mostly, the relationship with the other (the colonizer and the colonized).

In addition to the ego’s feeling of losing its identity because of the practices of the others.

Accordingly, this study aims at observing the relationship between the ego and the other; the coalition, difference and transitions between conflict, racism and war, and the attempt to coexist on the other hand.

Also, the study attempts to answer questions, most notably: How does the rugged paths novel depict the different one? And the relationship of the ego to the other? The reason of the religious and ideological conflict?
