This article attempts to report, from the neuroscientific literature, on the question relating to the understanding / production of language in humans.
we will try to clarify the faculty of understanding / production of language and the cortical areas that underlie them.
by undertaking a historical retrospective, we will describe the cerebral underpinnings (Broca / Wernicke areas) of language comprehension / production, firstly, relying on classic anatomoclinical techniques, then, on those based on functional neuromedical imaging (FMRI), position emission tomography (PET) and electroencephalogram (EEG).

Le présent article essaie de rendre compte, à partir de la littérature neuroscientifique, de la question relative à la compréhension / production du langage chez l’homme.
nous tenterons de mettre au clair la faculté de compréhension / production du langage et les aires corticales qui les sous tendent.
en entreprenant une rétrospective historique, nous décrirons les soubassements cérébraux (aires de Broca / Wernicke) de la compréhension / production du langage, d’abord, en s’appuyant sur les techniques anatomocliniques classiques, ensuite, sur celles basées sur l’imagerie neuromédicale fonctionnelle (IRMf), la tomographie par émission de positions (TEP) et électro-encéphalogramme (EEG).
