Abstract EN

The Old Maghreb was named in the classical writings, and because of the paucity and scarcity of local historical writings, it was necessary to rely on the classical Greek and Latin sources, which still maintain their importance and position among the important sources of ancient history and various sciences.

Claudius Ptolemy, or as some Arab sources call him Claudius Ptolemy or Ptolemy al-Qaludi, He is an astronomer, geographer and mathematician, born in Egypt and famous for his activities between 127-148 AD when he resided in Alexandria, where he was able to work and benefit from its huge library.

It chronicles the art of cartography, and the fourth part of it provided us with important information about the ancient Maghreb, known at the time as (Libya), according to the regions and provinces that included it.

This study came to highlight what the historian provided about the geography and history of this region and its peoples.
