This study deals with the question of "form and meaning" in ancient and modern Arabic thought, considering that it is a question that truly represents the essence of traditional and modern problems in the Arabic lesson, while the debate surrounding it raged on the part of grammarians, rhetoricians, critics, fundamentalists and logicians.

This is to determine the merit of each party to give the literary text its artistic value.

From there, the Algerian critical discourse began to look for kinship links to strengthen the legitimacy of the heritage in modern critical practice, because this question generated a whirlwind of knowledge in the rhetorical circles of the time, and in the linguistic and critical circles of the time.

With the clarification of the critical position of "Abdul Malik Murtad" from these trends, considering that if we look at them with a modern eye, we find that they really represent one of the important rules through which contemporary literary criticism laid its foundations.
