A problem like this requires us to study critically, so we can formulate it as follows? Is there any sense in talking about Islamic art? In other words, is it possible to create Islamic art? Do the arts of Islamic peoples possess reality and forms that distinguish them from the arts of other peoples and unite them among themselves? If so, should these distinctive characteristics be explained, if not by strict religious data, then at least by religious and social data resulting from the ideology and way of life sought by divine revelation? Is it legitimate, whether in relation to the past or the special and new circumstances of today, to talk about Islamic art instead of Iranian, Arab, Syrian, Maghreb or Turkish art?
