This paper aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using kagan cooperative structures in teaching mathematics to develop mathematical concepts and positive thinking in primary school students.

to achieve the aim of this study, to answer the research questions and to verify the verity of the hypotheses, a quasi-experimental design involving equivalent groups was employed in this study.

the measures used in this study included a mathematical concepts test and a positive thinking scale for sixth grade primary pupils.

as for the research materials, they included a teacher's guide and worksheets for the student, developed in light of kagan cooperative structures, with all the materials and tools having been developed by the researcher.

the research groups' participants were recruited from female primary sixth graders in sheikh m.

m.

shaarawi primary school, in beni suef educational district, during the academic year 2017-2018.

there were (80) female students who have been divided into two groups, one experimental and the other a control, each of which consisting of (40) female students.

the results of the study showed that the cooperative structures of kagan had a significant effect and an acceptable size of effectiveness in developing mathematical concepts, while the size of effectiveness in developing positive thinking in the students of the experimental group was revealed to be of a small magnitude, despite the significant effect revealed to have influenced positive thinking, probably due to the use of kagan cooperative structures in the development of positive thinking compared to the conventional method of mathematics education.
